This parkland course came to prominence following the success of the 2001 Murphy’s Irish Open which was held here. Iit gained praise from virtually all the players in particular Colin Montgomery who is quoted as saying that it was a fine course, parts of which reminded him of Mount Juliet and others of Loch Lomond.

Located on an Island in the River Lee just outside Cork, the course was designed by Peter McEvoy and Christie O’Connor Jr. and opened for play in 1993. In 1999 Jeff Howes redesigned parts of the course to better bring into play the magnificent water features and more of the mature trees which are abundant around the course. From the right tee, this is a fair challenge for all.
