Set on top of a rocky promontory which juts out to where the Celtic Sea and Atlantic Ocean meet, this is probably one of the most dramatic settings for a golf course anywhere in the world. Located nearby the delightful fishing port of Kinsale, Old Head has more the character of a heath land rather than links course and has the disadvantage that, due to its location, weather on many an occasion makes it impossible to play; should this be the case on your day at least enjoy lunch at the clubhouse where you can enjoy excellent seafood. Old Head is now by far the most expensive golf course to play in Ireland.
