Valderrama will not disappoint. Host to the European PGA Volvo Masters tournament from 1988-1996 and again from 2002 onwards, The 32nd Ryder Cup in 1997 and the American Express World Golf Championship in 1999 & 2000, an ongoing upgrade program and the club’s maintenance “army” have ensured Valderrama keeps it No 1 position in Continental Europe.

Immaculate cork lined fairways, plentiful bunkers, dramatic water features; slick well-guarded greens make Valderrama the challenge that it truly is.

Although the best-known hole is probably the 17th with its amphitheatre and water hazard, the par 5, 4th, especially since the introduction of new-elevated tees, is a magnificent hole. A good drive over the valley onto the hilltop landing area will give an opportunity for a fairway wood to get you close enough to the elevated green for a low iron in; watch the water to the right though, the bunker front left and the oak trees on and left!

A new pro shop and guest changing rooms make for a warm welcome to Valderrama. Light snacks and lunches are available in the Masters Bar. The club houses a collection of golf memorabilia, the largest private collection in the world, which belongs to the club’s president Jaime Ortiz Patino.
