Built by The Pasha, the local governor of Marrakech in the 20’s, and enjoyed by many a celebrity since including Winston Churchill, who spent time painting in the area, Royal Marrakech has one of the most spectacular array of tress and plants lining it fairways of just about any golf course anywhere. With the snow capped Atlas Mountains in the background this is as much about a walk in magnificent scenery as a round of golf.

With its straight, flat fairways, now in immaculate condition since its recent upgrade, dotted with old fashioned bunkers, despite its length is a delight to play even if your game on the day is not all you would want it to be.

In recent years the new clubhouse has given the whole place a rather “glamorous” atmosphere with outdoor dining and parrots which guard the lu’s. I somehow think I prefer and have happy memories of a much smaller place where Budweiser’s were served after golf by a lady in local dress, from a cooler under a large palm tree.
