Venue to five Amateur Championships from 1938-2003, the last being won by Guy Wolstenholme, four Home Internationals, Scotland & England having tied the last two, four Ladies British Open Amateurs, five Scottish Amateurs and eight Opens, the last being won by Tod Hamilton in 2004 with previous winners Justin Leonard in 1997,Tom Watson 1982, Tom Weiskopf 1950, Arnold Palmer 1962, Booby Locke 1950 and A.G. Havers in1923.

With sensational views of the of the Firth of Clyde towards the Isles of Arran and The Mull of Kintyre, the front nine is comparatively straight forward but wait till the turn for the fun to really begin. Challenges including the famous par 3 Postage stamp await making this one of the toughest 9 holes in golf.

It’s surprising that Colin Montgomery’s name doe not appear on the list above, he was brought up here, his father having been Club Secretary untill recently.
