The journey to Waterville golf club, which is located alongside the dunes in Ballinskelligs Bay, is along The Ring of Kerry, one of Irelandís most popular tourist routes which circumnavigates the Iveragh Peninsular, west of Killarney.

To play golf, especially on a course of this stature having travelled though such majestic scenery makes for a very special day.

Founded in 1889, the original 9 hole course was extended to todayís 18 hole layout 80 years later by its owner, the late John A. Mulcahy and Irish architect Eddie Hackett. Besides the usual hazards of a pedigree links course, length is the other challenge here. All but the really big hitters might well enjoy the course best from forward tees.
