Jerez

Region: Jerez
Monuments: Sherry bodegas. - The Royal School of Equestrian Art. - The old town & cathedral

Surrounded by chalky countryside covered with vines, Jerez is best known as the capital of the sherry wine industry, but has much to offer visitors especialy those interested in the Spanish traditions suchas flamenco, bull fighting and in particular horse riding.

Many of the sherry bodegas (wineries) are open for visits. Every Tuesday and Thursday, in season, there is a performance given by the riders and horses of the Royal School of Equestrian Art which is well worth seeing.

The down town area is wonderfully unspoiled and a pleasure to wander.
